Designated Survivor Season 1 review

I think it was a good idea to steal the basic premise, no matter how unlikely it is, from Tom Clancy’s Debt of Honor/Executive Orders novels. Much better than combining The Newsroom with Suits to make Notorious, for example. But they may have had to dumb it down too much for TV. There would be some cabinet members, at least 20 or 30 Congressmen, and more than a few other Secretaries and Under Secretaries who weren’t in the Capital when the bombs went off. But they may feel that would be too many players.

The “one problem at a time” format is unrealistic, and right now there isn’t enough happening with only two story lines. There needs to be at least one over-arching story line for the White House along with the problem of the week. Right now there’s just background noise.
